Occupational Therapy Consulting Services
Invest in your school by providing teachers opportunities to learn new skills that will help them support their students. Educational workshops are interactive and filled with practical strategies your teachers can start to incorporate immediately.
In the past we have provided educational workshops centered around handwriting & fine motor skills, sensory processing and self regulation, and developmental milestones. We also include time for questions and can provide on the spot feedback for teachers during the workshop.
Professional Development
Based on your school's specific needs and goals, we can collaborate with you to create school wide programming that enhances the learning environment for your students & sets them up for success.
School wide programs that we could establish at your school could include a comprehensive handwriting program that focuses on building the hand muscles and coordination needed for writing, a reading program that utilizes trained therapy animals to foster reading confidence in those who are struggling with reading aloud, or a movement circuit that teachers can visit to help their students stay focused and ready to learn.
Program Development
Although individual therapy sessions are not a service provided by the consulting OT, we can still support individual students through various methods.
This could look like providing screenings to detect developmental delays, facilitating small group sessions for students who need added support, or arranging classroom observations to identify students who may need specialized support. We can also build a designated sensory room for identified students to use when they are in need.
Student Support
The consulting OT has the potential to be your teachers best resource. Together, the classroom teacher and the consulting OT can keep an eye on all of the students to ensure that every student is getting the most out of their learning experience.
The consulting therapist can provide suggestions for strategies to implement when the classroom is out of control, or, when the teacher is concerned about a specific student they can bring their concerns to the OT and together they can troubleshoot a solution.

It depends on the need & available resources of your school. Typically we work with schools on a weekly basis, however we have also been effective visiting on a monthly basis.
Yes! We love to educate & empower parents and are more than happy to coordinate parent workshops.
No, however individual screenings can be scheduled to determine if there is a need for more individualized help. If additional help is recommended (and if it works with the schedule) we can provide individual students with therapy services at school, but these services would be rendered as a private practice service - not associated or included in the consultative OT model.
We are able to support your teachers in many ways. From providing feedback on specific students, to recommending specific strategies or tools to use to maximize attention & focus during the school day, to adjusting classroom desks/equipment to promote success for individual students & the classroom as a whole - the sky is the limit for how we can support your teachers.
Nope! We can work with the resources you have available. We understand that financial resources are not always so readily available and we are prepared to think creatively and make your resources stretch.
Our base rate for OT consultative services start at $150.
Michaelene has a very sweet, kind demeanor. Her communication style puts teachers and parents at ease. You leave each visit with her understanding the developmental needs of each child, as well as, tips to use at home and school. She is very accessible and responsive to each family and teacher.
Michaelene is a natural when interacting with children and has a way of leading them into a play based therapy in their natural classroom environment.
