So how does it work?

I always start things off with a phone call to get 'the big picture'. Once I have a better understanding of what you need & how I can help you, I am able to point you towards your best next step.

Depending on your specific needs, next we will get to work building a plan to support your goals.

If you are looking for therapy for your child, I will conduct and evaluation or do a screening to assess their baseline, then, using that information, I will create an individualized treatment plan & build an OT kit filled with all the tools we will need during our sessions.

If you are looking for parent coaching, a guest speaker for your community group, or professional development resources for your staff, I will gather all the information & create the necessary support presentations or documents at this time.

phase two

Now it's time to put our plan into action!

By this point, I will have already dropped off your child's OT kit (or mailed/delivered if you are located outside of the Atlanta/Sandy Springs area) & we will have set a time for our sessions. At the time of your session I will work with your child through video chat* utilizing the tools in their kit.

Your therapy session will be about an hour long, with 50 minutes of hands on therapy & 10 minutes reserved for us to discuss the session, answer questions, & address any concerns.

At this point I will also be prepared to join your organization or teachers online on your chosen video conferencing platform. I will be ready with any slideshow presentations perviously agreed upon, in addition to having sent any supporting documents or resources prior to the presentation.

For virtual parent coaching we will meet at a predetermined time to further discuss your situation. During our time I will go over any supporting documents I previously sent you (or will explain any documents I plan to share with you after our call) to ensure you are supported to reach your goals. I will also give you a few suggestions or recommendations during our time.

Frequently Asked Q's

Do you need special software?

No. We use zoom so all you will need is the link to the meeting.

Can I book virtual services if I am in another state?

Yes if you are interested in consultations, presentations, & coaching. I am unable to provide therapy however, as my license is for Georgia.

Do I need to be present for my child's virtual session?

It depends on how old your child is and what their goals are. Typically for my older clients, they are tech savvy enough to handle things on their own (however, it is helpful to have a parent in range in case they need help). For my younger clients, I need the parents present because they are 'my hands'.

Can we do sessions using my phone?

Yes, not as fun for me, but yes :)

Are virtual sessions as effective as in person sessions?

Technically, yes, but a bigger screen (such as on an ipad or laptop) is preferred.

I like to check in with parents most sessions, but once again, it depends on your child & their goals. You are more than welcome to pop on during every session if you would like.

Will we talk every session, or do you primarily converse with me via email?

* The video chat system we use is HIPPA compliant, so you can trust your child's information is confidential
